This particular business segment aims to provide mobile communications services to Japanese travelers leaving Japan as well as Japanese permanently residing abroad. The current technology platform in Japan is incompatible with GSM platforms in countries outside, and thus creates specific user difficulties. The Company aims to create a subscriber base from this niche market, eventually growing it into a profitable communications base.

One of the most compelling gaps in the Japanese telecommunications market is the inability of Japanese subscribers to use their handsets outside of Japan. This is brought about by the inability of prevailing handset platforms to be compatible in the more prevalent GSM platform in other countries. Existing MNO’s (mobile network operators) have addressed this by renting out GSM handsets, and by charging exorbitant global roaming charges. Niki Mobile aims to tap this particular niche market of Japanese travelers by packaging a service and product offering that offers the following functionalities:

Overseas calling capability – through its interconnection agreements with local mobile network operators and other international operators, as well as its convergence of fixed line and IP based networks, the Company will be able to offer a suite of calling services at much cheaper rates than prevailing operators.

“Number portability” and Mobile Email portability– Japanese travelers going out of Japan will be able to continue receiving calls and their email messages on their handsets, using their existing Japanese handset numbers. No longer will travelers be required to obtain new numbers, but their existing contacts can merely call or forward email, and the travelers will be able to receive them. This service will also be at cheaper rates than currently available.
